and as far as my knowledge goes, Henry decided to join the Holy League (which pope Julius II created) only to expand his holdings in northern France. The Holy League formed an alliance between not only Spain and England but the Holy Roman Empire. And in 1511 they began their preparation for their involvement in the War of the League of Cambrai.
When Henry invaded France his troops defeated the French army (1513) at the Battle of the Spurs. This caused his brother in law to turn against him and attempt to invade England. Which failed and ended in the death of Scotland's King.
