How specific?

Europe

Germany attacked Poland, then they attacked France, then they attacked England. then the USA got attacked by the Japanese at pearl harbor and was forced to enter the war. Then the Allies invaded Africa, then later Europe. The Allies (USA, England, Canada, Russia, Australia, and many more countries) finally prevailed, but as the beginning of the following cold war began at the ending of WWII the Soviet Union gets the credit for taking Berlin and they tried to keep Germany.

Pacific

In the Pacific, early on Japan went on a rampage across China and neighboring countries. The attack at pearl Harbour in Hawaii finally causing the USA to enter the war. The Allies fought for a while, the pacific campaign had some of the highest casualties and hardest fighting of any fighting in this war. The Japanese were some of the most dedicated and formidable opponents faced anywhere in the world. To finally end the war the USA dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the Japan and to end the war with Japan, the last of the WWII Axis nations.

"The Jewish problem" (Hitler prior to the war)

The Nazis (German Party in Office) killed about 6 million Jews during the war with concentration camps containing gas chambers and ovens. They also killed a whole lot of Homosexuals, gypsies, and political opponents to Hitler

Remembrance

This is one of the darkest and at the same time most Nobel chapters in world history. I think any person should find a local person who served in this war and find out what their branch of the service contributed to this war. Our WWII veterans will not be with us much longer and a war as important and fought on such clear lines of good and evil make this worth remembering.
