If you mean bait fish (like shad), the more you freeze them, the softer they get. Then they will come off the hook easier.

Can you refreezing uncooked lamb?

Due to health risks, no meat (or fish) should be refrozen after it has been thawed.

Are shrimps good once they have been unthawed?

I assume you mean thawed - unthawed is refrozen! As long as that was the only time they have been frozen, they will be perfectly good. Most shell food and fish is perfectly good after being frozen, but beware, many supermarket fish/shellfish, have been frozen before being defrosted and put on display. Check the label to be sure.

If frozen fish thaws can it be frozen again?

No, frozen is frozen. But you can refreeze something that has been thawed. You can refreeze thawed meat long as there are still ice crystals on it. Once completely thawed then you need to cook it first then refreeze. This applies to solid pieces only, ground meat once more than half thawed needs to be cooked first then refrozen always.

Does frozen fish weight more the thawed fish?

Fish will weigh less after it is thawed because it loses some water when it is thawed.

Can lefse be frozen and if so how to do it?

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, frozen fish fillets that have been thawed under refrigeration and have been defrosted for no more than 2 days, can be safely refrozen. The safety may be fine, but the quality will likely be affected. If the fish was thawed using a different method, then refreezing is not an option. Other sites suggest the fish not be refrozen unless it is cooked.

Can previously frozen fish be refrozen safely?

Can you smoke fish after it has been frozen?

Sure. Partially thaw the fish and then brine it - usually with a mixture of salt and sugar. It should smoke with no problems, and then can either be refrozen or canned.

Can fish partially thawed at room temperature be refrozen?

My freezer was unplugged by a construction worker. I did not catch it for 2 days the food was cold but had defrosted. The fish was in sealed packages but pretty defrosted. Is it ok to refreeze it now or is it dangerous to eat?

Can fresh fish be frozen defrosted cooked and then frozen again?

It can be, but it is not desirable to do so. The fish could not have been thawed for long and would have to have been thawed under refrigeration. Freezing it again will adversely affect the quality of the fish. You might consider cooking it first, then freezing it.

What happens if you Freeze then thaw then freeze chicken?

The advice that is often repeated is that refreezing thawed meat is dangerous. This is not completely true. If the meat was thawed properly in the refrigerator, it is perfectly safe to refreeze. If it was thawed on the counter top or by other means, it should be cooked before freezing. Chicken that has been refrozen might suffer in quality - specifically in loss of moisture content, leading to a drier meat.

Can previously frozen cooked seafood be refrozen?

The technique of freezing cooked fish is not different from that of freezing raw fish; you put it in a wrapping or container of some kind and throw it in the freezer.

What happens if you eat salmon that has been in the fridge for 1 week?

In most cases 2 to 3 days of refrigeration is the maximum recommended time after dethawing or purchased already thawed. Anything beyond this and you seriously risk sickness. Fish is not something you take chances on.
