If they die non-believers then they're going to burn in the fire of hell forever. It may seem unfair now, but on the day of judgment it's going to seem fair because everyone has had a good chance to think about becoming a Muslim.

If a non-believer becomes Muslim (by testifying there is no god except Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger) all his past sins are forgiven, but his good deeds still there, and he starts a new page with Allah.

Answer 1

Each religion has its own beliefs. Muslims believe that Jews and Christians are people of the Book and the people of the book like Muslims will go to heaven eventually but first they are all answerable for their deeds good or evil. On the other hand, Christians generally believe that Muslims will not go to heaven, or are at least unlikely to do so.

Answer 2

It is the sole prerogative/right/privilege of Almighty God to judge a person and send him/her to heaven or hell. He and He alone is the sole Creator, Sustainer Provider and the Ruler of the Universe and the Day of Judgment. He knows what we hide and what we express. The Muslims believe that Almighty Allah has no Associate whatsoever. His mercy knows no bounds. Only those will go to heaven whom He judges to be true to Him and follow His commands and worship only Him. No one can give a certificate of going to heaven. Our knowledge is limited, but His knowledge is unlimited and complete. If somebody is sincerely worried about going to hell or heaven, he should study Torat, The Bible and the holy Qur'an with this sincere prayer requesting Almighty God to show him the right path. Rest assured He will not disappoint you.

If they believe in God as the one and only one God with no partner and no associate, they will be accepted, per God mercy and forgiveness, in His Paradise per their good deeds and good faith; otherwise it is per the will of God either to firgive them or to push them in His Hell fire. Same applies for Muslims.

Answer:

Those who have heard about Muhammad will be asked if they investigated his claims to be a Prophet or not. If they did not investigate they will need a good reason. If they did investigate, understood his mission, but still did not follow him, then they will be punished - at least for a time. That is because every Prophet was sent with an important mission and each one should be obeyed.

If a person has not heard the message of the Final Prophet, then he or she will be judged based upon two things: 1) Correct belief in the One and ONLY One God (with no others being worshipped because God does not accept polytheism at all) and 2) His or her deeds. Did they do good or evil? Did they repent from their evil deeds or not?

Eventually, everyone who has even a small grain of belief in THE ONENESS OF GOD will be removed from Hell and will enter Heaven. Everyone. Hell is only permanent for those who rejected the One God completely by Atheism or by worshipping other than God.

Belief in God is a matter of FAITH. By definition there can be and is NO PROOF that there is any afterlife when you die.

People can therefore tell you what they BELIEVE will happen to you if you do not believe as they do but they can not PROVE this.

If there is a GOD he gave us all free will and you can choose what YOU want to believe.

If there is NOT a god then actually what you believe does not matter.

It is my experience that belief in the divine and trying to help others, has made my life richer and more fulfilled - I hope for a life after death but if there is not one, I will not know that (then).

The resultant actions against an Ex-Muslim are contingent on a number of factors. The most important factor to consider is whether or not the Ex-Muslim is open an honest with his family about his disbelief. Usually, Muslims do not suspect if loved ones have left the faith and it is estimated that the bulk of Ex-Muslims still feign to be Muslims because they are worried about repercussions that may occur if their families discover that they have left. If the Ex-Muslim "comes out" to his family, usually, this does result in negative repercussions. This is not to say that there are not good families that accept and try to understand the Ex-Muslim member, but this is the minority. The negative repercussions usually include: being disowned, being kicked out of the house (if they are young children living under their parents' roof), humiliation in the community, isolation (not be spoken to), and in some more traditional areas in the Islamic World, targeted killing (sometimes even government condoned or government-led).

In terms of an afterlife, since there is no evidence as to what it looks like and people of different faith traditions have different views of what will happen there, I leave that to personal beliefs and not risk an analysis.

The question does not make clear whether this is a question about what will happen in the Islamic Afterlife to Non-Muslims or what happens in present-day countries to people who are Non-Muslims. Please see the different sections of this answer accordingly:

ISLAMIC AFTERLIFE FOR NON-MUSLIMS
The Qur'an makes clear that ever since Muhammad's revelation of the Qur'an that all Non-Muslims are bound for the hellfire, see Qur'an 3:85, cited below. Additionally, in Sahih Muslim 153, the belief is affirmed that any person who hears about Muhammad and rejects him is bound for hellfire, also cited below. Many Muslims who wish to be ecumenical will improperly cite Qur'an 2:62, which argues that Jews and Christians who lived BEFORE Muhammad will go to heaven, cited below. However, Jews and Christians born after this point are hell-bound. (The clarity comes from the Arabic here which is in the past tense أمنوا as opposed to the present tense يؤمنون.)

Qur'an 2:62: (Translation Sahih International): Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] - those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.

Qur'an 3:85: (Translation Sahih International): And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

Sahih Muslim 153: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, he who amongst the community of Jews or Christians hears about me, but does not affirm his belief in that with which I have been sent and dies in this state (of disbelief), he shall be but one of the denizens of Hell-Fire.

NON-MUSLIMS IN THE PRESENT WORLD
There are a variety of differences of how Non-Muslims on Earth are treated by different countries. Off of the top of my head I can think of six basic case studies for Muslim interaction with non-Muslims:

(1) Non-Muslim Dominant

Non-Muslim Dominant states vary from countries like the United States where Muslims, although not dominant, have equal rights to Non-Muslims and countries like the Kingdom of Spain in 1500, where being a Muslim was a capital offense. However, the situation for Non-Muslims in such regimes was consistent, namely that they had protection of the government and the maximal number of enumerated rights and responsibilities as given by that government.

(2) Confessional System of Governance with Muslims as a Confession: Lebanon (2010 CE)

Lebanon has unique form of government. In order to protect the rights of the different religious groups in Lebanon, the government has set requirements for which roles are to be taken by which religious groups (the President of the Republic must be Maronite Christian, the Prime Minister must be Sunni Muslim, the President of the National Assembly must be Shiite Muslim, etc.). There is also a requirement that the legislature must be split 50:50 between Christians and Muslims. This prevents any one group from assuming power in Lebanon and has allowed that country to play host to over 9 types of Christianity, Sunni Islam, Shiite Islam, Alawite Islam, and the Druze without major issues since 1991. This makes Lebanon the most diverse country in the Middle East and it is commonplace for churches and mosques to sit side-by-side with minimal neighborhood segregation. As the Muslim population continues to grow, there is continued pressure to give the Muslims a greater share of the power, but debates on this issue have gone on relatively civilly.

(3) Muslim Dominant with Equal Rights for Non-Muslims: Albania (2010 CE)
Albania has been majority-Muslim since the mid-1700s, but there is no difference in legal or social rights between Muslims and the Christian minority. Even though Albania is a member of the OIC, there is no official religion in Albania. There have been no recorded serious violations of religious rights in Albania by other religious groups. Some have credited this to the nearly fifty years of Communist Rule during which religion was banned, but others credit it to the historical lack of animosity in Albania between religious groups during both the Ottoman and independent Albanian period.

(4) Muslim Dominant with Unequal Rights for Non-Muslims: Egypt (2000 CE)
Under the rule of Hosni Mubarak, Egypt was an Islamic State with unequal rights for Christians and other religious minorities. Christians, while Egyptian citizens, did not have the same legal protections in certain cases (such as the lack of the Christian right to build new or repair old churches while Muslims could easily build and repair mosques) and in other cases where the laws placed Christians and Muslims on equal footing, there was a tendency to treat the Christians as inferior (such as property law). Christian churches were bombed relatively infrequently, but no government suits or arrests followed such actions. Christians were also expected not to openly drink wine (such as in restaurants that are exposed to the street or in other public places) and not to openly eat pork to avoid offending Muslims. Proselytization to Christianity was also forbidden by law, even though Islamic proselytization on Christians is permitted. Conversion of Muslims to any other religion is also illegal. However, Egyptian Christians can live in whatever communities they want and can pray without the fear of forcible conversion. Christian Egyptians paid no higher taxes on account of being Christian and they were permitted to work in the government and serve in the Army.

(5) Muslim Dominant with Segregation for Non-Muslims or Dhimmi Status: Ottoman Empire (1800 CE)
Under the Ottoman System, there was a clear inequality between religious groups that would today be considered a form of apartheid. The Dhimmi, or non-Muslim under Muslim occupation was required by the Pact of Omar to pay a number of taxes that were connected with his Dhimmi status. The most famous was the jizya, which was a tax that Dhimmi had to pay for Muslims for the right to not be killed where they stood for not acknowledging Mohammed's Prophecy; it was a form of humiliation. Additional taxes included the kharaj, which was a tax on non-Muslim land-holdings in the Muslim World. The kharaj was so untenable that most Dhimmi were forced to live in the cities where the tax would not be applicable. On paper, a Christian or Jew could testify against a Muslim, but in reality, such testimony was not acceptable and the attempt to defame a Muslim would receive retribution, creating a thoroughly unjust system. Christians and Jews were not allowed to build new houses of worship, restore old houses of worship, proselytize in any way (this included religious debate or dialogue), or allow wine or pigs to be shown in public. Dhimmi were also prohibited from serving in the government (except for certain particular positions) and were denied the ability to serve in the military or maintain weapons for self-defense. An additional, unique, part of the Ottoman System that was different from the Dhimmi System elsewhere was the practice of devÅŸirme whereby Christian young boys and girls would be taken from their families to be converted to Islam and raised in the palace with the Sultan in Istanbul. The men would become soldiers (Janissaries) and ministers in the government. The women would join his harem.

(6) Muslim Dominant with Non-Muslim Repression or Extermination: Mughal Empire (1700 CE)

The Mughal Empire was known throughout its reign to have been a relatively beneficent Islamic State. The Mughal Empire under Akbar the Great would probably fall under (5), especially in his later years. However, this particular timeline deals with King Aurangzeb who forcibly converted massive numbers of Hindus in India. He also led several campaigns to slaughter of several groups of Hindus who lived outside of his direct authority. He was known for destroying the three most sacred Hindu temples: the Kashi Vishwanath temple, Kesava Deo temple and Somnath temple and built large mosques in their place. Sikh leaders who opposed Aurangzeb's forced conversions (like the Ninth Sikh Guru) were beheaded. Christians who had received aid and protection under Akbar the Great lost those benefits under the Mughal.

Does Islam believe in killing nonbelievers?

"Islam" is a broad category, as is "non-believer". The Wahhabi and Salafi sects of Islam are often quite violent and rigid in the fundamentalist nature of their religion, and Christians and Jews are required to pay a tax or be killed. "Pagans" must convert or die. Less-strict factions of Islam do not try to implement these articles of their faith.
