You need at least 6 gallons to get to the level of the fuel filter pump in the tank, If you try to do this with less than 6 gallons all your doing is wearing down your battery.

might be fuel pump. listen to see if it hums when turning key to run. could also be pickup coil in distributor. if no distributor, crank or cam sensor Trying to solve this problem myself, but it definitely is not the fuel pump or the coils, I am still looking
