-No income tax would have been passed (until probably sometime after World War II.)
-It would have taken even longer for women to earn the right to vote in national elections.
-Woodrow Wilson would not have been elected president in 1912.
-The effort to make alcohol illegal would have probably failed.
-World war would have used up all our Natural Resources.
- Our meat for all we know would have rat pieces and poisoned bread and be lying on the floor at the slaughterhouse.
we would not have the Wisconsin idea which gave us more power in the government.
If it wasn't for the progressive era, there would be no accountability on the part of the politicians. The people were given more control because the constitution allocates three tools for the public to use to guard against corrupt government - initiative, recall, and referendum. Income taxes wouldn't have been initiated until probably later and woman wouldn't have been given the right to vote.
We are emerging into a progressive era with Obama's second term.
