Have been in the car business nearly 18 years now and have had this situation come up a few times over the years. In Texas, you must take physical delivery of the vehicle for ownership to occur. Delivery signifies both literally and legally the transfer of ownership from the seller to the buyer. Delivery triggers the financing contract ( if any ), the beginning of the warranty period ( if any warranty applies )and the beginning of liability for the insurance company ( if any ) that agreed to cover the vehicle. If you do not take delivery, regardless of any paperwork that you've signed, no sale has taken place and no transaction has been consummated.-David
