Enhanced Traction System (ETS) The Enhanced Traction System (ETS) is designed to limit wheel slip during acceleration. This objective is accomplished by cutting fuel to selected cylinders, retarding spark and upshifting the transmission. The EBCM monitors wheel speed slip through the ABS wheel speed sensors and determines the desired torque reduction needed to minimize wheel spin. The torque reduction the EBCM requests may result in a combination of fuel cutoff, spark retard, and upshifting the transmission, depending on the torque reduction required. This request is sent from the EBCM through the serial data link to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM then calculates and employs fuel cutoff and spark retard values to achieve the requested engine torque. If the EBCM determines that the engine torque reduction is not sufficient to minimize wheel spin, it will request a transmission upshift. The ETS will be enabled when the ETS switch is in the ON position (TRAC OFF indicator not illuminated),
if it has ets its a thumb switch on the shifter if it is displayed on the cluster its off if not it's on or not equiped
I have a 1998 Pontiac sunfire gt and it is on the side of the gear shifter (automatic) however, if it is standard then I am unsure.
the ets button should be locater right on the side of the shifter. i know for a fact on a 97 2.2L sunfire automatic tranny.
it means you have your traction control turned off Enhanced Traction System
ETS is connected to your ABS. ETS is a traction control and is linked to your ABS so to get your ETS light off you'll probably have to fix your ABS to get the light off. On mine, fixing a broken wire on my ABS plug which runs into the hub fixed my problem.
It is supposed to. ETS (Enhanced Traction System) is turned on and off with that switch. Leave it on. The system is on and working when the light is off.It is supposed to. If your ETS light is on you may want to take a look a your brakes. If your brakes are making a noise, then the sensor has tripped your ETS sensor. Your ETS light is just like the ABS in most vehicles, it means there is a brake problem. Usually it means it is time to change them. The ETS should be off unless there is an electrical problem in the switch (located on the autmatic shifter on some models), or some other electrical problem somewhere else that is causing it to read as off by the computer.
The enhanced traction system, or ETS, on a vehicle allows for better handling in certain weather conditions. DIY repairs for these systems are generally not recommended; they should be done by a qualifiedÊmechanic.
what does ets, esp and abs warning lights mean on a 2000 ml Mercedes
I have the same problem with my sunfire. no big deal. All the ETS(electronic tracking system)does is tell you and your sensors on your tires how well your tired are griping to the pavement.
ETS is Enhanced Traction System is used to stop wheel slip thru reducing engine output. There is almost no instance where you would need to turn this off. Leave it alone and leave the ETS on.
ok. see the button with the wheels on it near the dimmer switch. It says ETS on it. push and it will light up.
