Crystalized coolant? due to a leaking headgasket?
How to check if there is oil in my gearbox and where does the nut sit and what kind of oil do i use
Drain the old stuff out from the plug on the oil pan (replace the filter while you're under there). Put the new stuff into the fill cap on the engine.
Its not very hard, but it costs about $80. You have to fill out an application, return it, and then you take a picture and all that good stuff. Pretty much the same way you get a driver's permit, without the test.
The motor oil, in your 1998 Ford expedition, should be put in the oil fill tube. The oil fill tube should have a That labels it as the oil fill tube.

Assuming you have an Ecotec engine, you have a cartridge type oil filter. The access cap is below and to the left (driver's side) of the intake. You may have a big plastic 'beauty cover' covering most of the stuff in your engine compartment. To remove cover for vehicle maintenance: remove oil fill cap; lift cover upwards; replace oil fill cap.
Engine? 3.1L V6 are notorious for intake manifold gasket leaks. get it fixed soon or your engine is at risk. My Lumina had oil in coolant and coolant in oil. If there is tan foamy stuff on oil fill cap, coolant is in oil too.
Seem to be on top of transaxle in rear, very hard to see & get to?
