Logitech's Squeezebox is what's known as a network music player. It uses your existing wireless network to stream the music on the internet and the music stored on your computer to anywhere in range of your wireless. It's similar to adding a new computer to your network.
There are different Squeezebox players that work with existing stereos, Home Theater systems, and powered speakers. You can browse and control your internet music without your computer being on. Logitech provides a free internet service to let you listen to internet radio stations and online music services like Pandora, Rhapsody, SIRIUS, Last.fm, and Napster. Squeezebox should handle just about any digital music format in your personal collection, including DRM-free music from iTunes.
No, the Logiteck Squeezebox Receiver will not worl with any computers.
A Squeezebox can be located and purchased at a number of vendors online or in store. The most popular vendors include Best Buy, Amazon's website, and Logitech.
There is the LOGITECH SQUEEZEBOX to play those formats. Lossles smakes smaller files.
More information: If you look at the Logitech Squeezebox Duet this is pretty much optimal for what I would like. The only thing is that the squeezebox gets the music from your computer. I would love to find something with its own harddrive -- or maybe something with an IPod Dock. Please ask if I'm not clear enough. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Squeezebox-Network-Music-System/dp/B0013IWYHU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1234393948&sr=1-1 Link for Duet
