It was based at Legio (modern Leon) and had detachments based in Tarraco (Tarragona), the chief city of the province, Tritium Magallum (Tricio in the La Rioja area), Lucus Augusti (Lugo), close to the gold mines of Astorga (near Leon) and of an unknown location in northern Portugal, Emerita Augusta, in Hispania Lusitania which was under the control of the governor of that province.
