A lumber jack?I don't a bumper jack but I will tell you whats a lumber jack is.It is a person who cuts down trees.
It is called the bumper reinforcement or impact bar, it is covered by a Styrofoam filler and the outer bumper skin (the part you normally see).
Well most cars these days have little clips or 'slots' in which the bolts are usually fastened to to keep the bumper together. If one of these bolts happens to break of and go missing you can fasten some wire or even a Bobby pin to hold the bumper on as a short term resolution.
It can cost $50 to $300 to replace a front bumper of this car. This depends on where the part is bought and where the work is done to replace the bumper.
Because it is cheap and easy.
If it is anything like my 2001 Ford Escape XLT you have to remove the bumper. or at least loosen enough to get to the headlight straps. My husband and I just changed the bumper, grille, and drivers fog and headlight assemblies (we hit a deer and deductible was to high). Our headlight had four bolts holding it in and 2 electrical plugs. Simple job when the bumper is off. The bumper has two bolts right under the hood, seven underneath, two snaps under the license plate, three in each wheel well and one where the bumper meets the fender (kind of a bugger to get at this one but we did it). It took us about 4 hours. We aren't mechanics but have done a few small projects before.
the bumper jack goes under the back bumper, there might be slots on each side of the rear bumper to put the jack into.
InstructionsLift the rear of the Corolla using a floor jack. Jack up on the rear jack point behind the trunk, and place a jack stand under each of the rear pinch welds. Then lower the vehicle onto the jack stands.Pry the plastic rivets off the inner wheel liner with a flat-head screwdriver.Remove the bolts that hold the bumper to the bumper bracket and support.Pull the bumper off the bumper support.Mount the new bumper. Align the mounting holes on the back of the bumper's mounting bracket with the bumper support, and thread and tighten the bumper. Replace the plastic rivets that hold the wheel liner to the rear bumper.Remove the jack stands, and lower the car.
Loosen the mounting bolts, there should be four of them then place a jack under the bumper and jack the bumper up until straight or even then tighten the bolts.

"The vehicle's bumper jack is located in the storage compartment, beneath the trunk floor." -That's from the 2006 SLK owner's manual.

A do it yourself answer would be an old school bumper jack and a real car/truck with a steel bumper. put the base plate as close or under the rim bead as you can and jack you old heavy car up on it
The bumper jack has 3 pieces. The base (square and black) sits on the ground and the jack sits in the base, it won't stand up by itself, it falls over. On the jack head is a grey hook. On the car in each corner (right beside the black bumper pad) is a small 1 inch cut out for the jack hook to hook into, you may have to look under the bumper to see these cut outs. slide the jack and the base under the bumper and lift the jack head into that notch, sometimes they slide up and sometimes you have to "jack" them up into position. The lug wrench handle is designed to fit into the jack and allow you to jack the car. On the jack head there is a lever that says 'down' flip the lever up and move the handle up and down to ratchet the car up, it takes a good ammount of force once the car gets up. Once you are done flip the lever down and ratchet the handle again to lower. When lowering you must push the handle down pretty hard to activate the ratchet function. It's primative but I found it very effective in lifting this heavy car.
In the little storage area in back...lift up the molded carpet panel. The jack is on the left going toward the bumper.
You car should come equipped with a bumper jack. If you need to jack up your car to change a tire, the best place to position the jack is either under the bumper closest to the flat tire (front or back) or under the frame of the vehicle.ANS 2 - In most modern cars the 'bumper' is a flimsy piece of plastic junk !The above answer worked great when cars were really built to last. (Sometime before 1985) . If you do this in a modern car it will invariably rip the so-called bumper right OFF , or worse, pull it loose when the wheel is off.Consult your vehicle manual if you are not sure.
