Runescape is something decent if you want a mmorpg that's free and you need to kill time.
It gets old by level 60, bu that might take you a year or 2 to get to.
the best game I know is Club Penguin. but there are others like Bin weevils and runescape. .
You don't need to give your email on runescape, as the last person said, and also stick arena is great because theres no email and you can make an account in 30 seconds. However, my personal favorite is sherwood rpg, aka sherwood mmorpg

There are thousands of MMORPGs in the world. Try Google searching free mmorpg list, there are tons of hits, and the first or second result is one of the largest lists in the world! I posted a link, this is the best site I've found.
Depends on what sort of game you want...
I'd say Runescape is DEFINITELY the best FREE online game available as there are separate worlds for people with and without membership, so there's never really a barrier separating the people that do pay and the people that don't.
There are two MMORPGs really cool and famous over the world.
Their names are Dofus and Wakfu.
These games are very attractive because of their Manga-style, addictive gameplay and big community with more than 40 million players. They receive a lot of updates and the community is really friendly.
Also Dofus and Wakfu are turn-based strategic combat videogames. They are running in Flash and they are completely free. All that you need is to create an account and download the game. That's it! They are translated into six different languages (including English, Spanish and French) and available for PC, MAC and Linux. Wakfu also has its own cartoon show. They are getting more and more popular.

There are many of those games out there, depending on your taste:
Warhammer Online
Mostly PvP, free to play trial version does not allow you to go past level 10
Guild Wars
Really free, only cosmetic items cost money
Champions Online
Recently went free-to-play superhero game, some slight limitations on free accounts
Dungeons&Dragons Online
Some content costs money, but you can also gain Turbine Points by playing the game and finishing quests
Lord of the Rings Online
Free to play, with some limits on characters and what you can do - mostly appeals to roleplayers and people who are fans of the books
This is just a small sample of the large free-to-play market.
I would say Guild Wars.
You have to buy the game, but the play on the internet is free.
You can find the demo at GuildWars.com free to download.
I personally think that eather Runescape or Jamlegend are the best multiplayer games online. Runescape u can rome free in the game and do anything u can think of doing and it has changed alot over the years and have gotten even better, so I recommend playing Runescape. The other game jam legend is a Guitar Hero game that u can play multiplayer and play by yourself. It has some amazing graphics for a online Guitar Hero game. So PLAY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are lots of different free MMOG's. One of the best free online multiplayer games is Runescape, online here -> www.runescape.com. It is free but if you want to pay to be a member you get can get extra things. Another game is www.jamlegend.com. It is one of the best Guitar Hero based games online. Some of the ones for younger people include Club Penguin, www.clubpenguin.com, Moshi Monsters, www.moshimonsters.com and more.
That's all I have for now :)
