In different countries things are thought of differently. In the UK, people often put the Middle Ages at the 11th to 15th centuries and call the 5th to 11th the Dark Ages.

  • ca 350 - Library of Constantinople was founded. It lasted until 1204, when it was destroyed by crusaders.
  • 357 - Kingdom of Franks within the Roman Empire is officially acknowledged.
  • 376 - Visigoths enter the Roman Empire at the mouth of the Danube.
  • 378 - Visigoths defeat Romans at the Battle of Adrianople.
