COE stands for coefficient of expansion. Different glass formulas expand and cool down at different rates. If you mix two incompatible glasses (for casting or fusing art glass projects) the glass will fracture and most likely ruin the project you are working on.
It takes place in Indian Creek, NORTH Carolina
Foam glass is made when air bubbles are put into the glass when it is melted . Fiber glass is glass that has been pulled into long strands.
The definition of recycling glass is taking old glass and breaking it down in order to make it into a new glass item. Bottles are popular items for glass recycling.
glass that can't break!
Since there is no shortage of sand from which to make glass, and since old glass can easily be recycled into new glass, yes, it is a sustainable resource.
Murano glass is known for the beauty of the many colors that are incorporated into it. These include blue, red, gold, and green.
Murano is the island in Venice, Italy where Moretti glass is made. Due to new ownership, the glass is now called "Effetre." Effetre is a 104 COE, soda lime glass. Vetrofond is another Italian soda lime glass that is 104 COE, and that factory is run by members of the original Moretti family. Neither Effetre nor Vetrofond is associated with Lauscha glass, which is made in Germany.
Glass expands at different rates. This rate is called a coeficient of expansion (COE). The higher the number the more it expands as its temperature rises. Glasses with low COE's can withstand heat much better than those with high COE's. When you pour hot liquid in a glass container with a high COE (90) quickly it can expand so much, so fast that it breaks. If you do the same thing in a Pyrex container (COE 32.5) it expands less and can take the stress without breaking.
