DV? GDE? RL?"We have all some experience of a feeling, that comes over us occasionally, of what we are saying and doing having been said and done before, in a remote time - of our having been surrounded, dim ages ago, by the same faces, objects, and circumstances - of our knowing perfectly what will be said next, as if we suddenly remember it" -- Charles Dickens, in his David Copperfield.

Well, most of us have, anyway. I copied this quote from the Wikipedia article on "deja vu" (let's call it DV), which is one of the possible answers to your question. Maybe you have read it already. If you are having a lot of DV, there is little to be done about it as far as I know. Perhaps a hypnotist? A psychologist? Better still, a loved one?

But there are other possible answers. The most likely is BOREDOM. Have you seen the film Groundhog Day? I can recommend it as a cure for boredom on at least two levels. The main character, played by Bill Murray, wakes each morning to the same day, which he has to live over and over, until . . . . I will not spoil the movie if you have not already seen it.

The first level of recommendation is that it is a fine film, worth seeing just for that. Maltin gave it only three stars, but I would go half a star better. The movie is made for laughs, really, showing how Murray's character reacts to the "Groundhog Day Experience" (let's call it GDE). It is sure to relieve ordinary boredom, if only for a couple of hours.

The second level is that it demonstrates how to use GDE to advantage. There is one catch -- you need to be able to remember what happened, including what you did about it, the day before in the same circumstances. So here is a test for you -- do you remember what you did when you last had GDE? If you can't, forget it. It wasn't GDE, more likely DV. But if you can, do something different next time!

If not DV or GDE, then we are running out of options here. The last possible answer that I will deal with is a repetitive lifestyle (let's call that RL). Everybody has RL to some extent, but some chafe at it more than others. Maybe you need to get rid of your RL and do something less repetitive.

If you are not referring to DV, GDE or RL, let me know -- I will be interested.

ANSWER

the mundane reality of life,

every day for a lot of us is the same as yesterday, and the day before, we do the same things, in the same places, with the same people ie jobs

and it will only change and be different if and when you change it and make it different, or when something drastic happens.

its unlikely you mean deja vu, although this is what it sounds like you are saying ,as deja vu is only really the feeling of having experienced before but most people seem to think of it as actually experiencing before

if you actually experience something again, that's simply experiencing it again, that's all,

or maybe it is groundhog day, hope its a good day your having if it is,

but its unlikely to be groundhog day as you wouldn't get to read this as it would be gone because it wasnt there before i wrote it on this day.

that's the principal of groundhog day

so if you read this, its probably not that either!

your more likely experiencing what is called co-incidence if you don't do these things regularly,

something that is unlikely to happen again, but does

although i personaly don't really believe in co-incidence,

i think its more spiritual than that and i think if something happens to you that happened before that normally wouldn't happen, then you take notice of it, the details, try to figure out why and what you have to know and do with it.

Is it correct to say on yesterday or on tomorrow?

No. In English we may say that something happened (or will happen) "on" a particular day or date (eg: Tuesday, or 15th March) but we do not say "on" yesterday and tomorrow. If something happened (or will happen) during a certain month but not on a specific date we may say "in" Eg: I am going shopping on Friday. My birthday was on the 17th June. I went swimming yesterday. I will visit a friend tomorrow. I am going to have a holiday in December.

What is the meaning of this quote. Yesterday is history. The future is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present?

A present, is not always a gift!It means run your life, take chances, and you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. Yesterday happened already so just do today and today is a gif.AnswerYesterday is history = The day before this is past, nothing can be done about it but to reflect. The future is a mystery = No one can know what tomorrow will bring, so there is no reason to worry about it.Today is a gift. = Take each day as it comes, for what it is. Use today to its fullest, there will be no other chance to do so.

Will there be destruction in 2012?

We have no way of knowing. -- On the one hand, the fact that it has not happened yet is no guarantee that it won't happen tomorrow. -- On the other hand, there is no evidence today that makes destruction tomorrow any more likely than it was yesterday. -- Bottom line . . . It might not. But it might. Nobody has any way to know. Does that help you decide how you might want to spend the rest of today ?

What does this mean Yesterday's history tomorrow a Mystery today is a gift?

No gift for what you can do today, but a gift for whatyou do in the future - - - I believe it means that yesterday was history, so don't waste all today worrying about the possible mistakes you may have made yesterday. "Tomorrow is a mystery" means that you don't know what will happen tomorrow or how long we have here etc so enjoy what we have today since we have it. "Today is a gift" means that you should be thankful for today and live it to the fullest as it truly is a gift. - - - this is a word-game with the grammar terms past - present - future: yesterday is history = past tomorrow is a mistery = future today is a gift = present a hug
