mdnsresponder.exe is open source software which allows devices to communicate with each other for sharing music, photos, printers, webcams etc. It is used by Apple (it's equivalent is built into Mac OS X), Adobe, Skype etc. as well as many hardware manufacturers. It will not be a problem to leave it running or if you are never going to use it it can be removed without problems.
The gray Apple logo that appears on a Mac during shutdown (and bootup) is simply a splash screen that displays during the shutdown (or bootup) process.

yes if the drive is full or of large capacity the disk searches for the file (a bootup) which takes a long time. but its not a fact
Yes. The Linpus installer will guide you through repartitioning the hard drive by shrinking the Windows partition, without actually deleting anything. At bootup, you will be able to choose between them.

no. OS is after Bootup which is after POST.
Please explain where the password was lost. In the os? In the bootup?
My assumption is some problem with the RAM arrangements in the slots, try to remove and insert it back at right place OR even there might be the problem with the any newly installed hardware, which is in compatible with the existed s/w or h/w configurations. - Pavan.Thirunamala
