a " conventional " or " regular " axle - an axle that is not a limited slip axle
If you open the drivers door and look for an information sticker , under " axle " there will be an axle code . If it is a letter and number , such as H7 , it has the Ford Traction - Lok limited slip axle , if it is 2 numbers , such as 19 , it has a conventional axle ( non limited slip ) With traction control I don't believe a limited slip axle is used .
3.73 conventional axle ( non - limited slip )
The slip yoke on the Ford Bronco is located on the rear axle rather than on the transfer case. This is the portion of the axle that allows it to flex.
4.10 limited slip
Open the drivers door and look for an information sticker It will show an axle code Limited slip axles will have a letter first and then a number ( if it's 2 numbers then it is a conventional - non limited slip axle ) The axle codes also represent different gear ratios )
8.8 inch 3.55ratio open not limited slip
Open the drivers door and look for a sticker on the end of the door that shows the axle code For example : ( D4 - 3.73 limited slip )--------------------( 45 - 3.55 non - limited slip ) ( D1 - 3.27 limited slip )--------------------( 46 - 3.73 non - limited slip ) ( D2 - 4.10 limited slip )-------------------- ( 41 - 3.27 non - limited slip ) --------------------------------------------------( 42 - 4.10 non - limited slip )
I believe axle code 19 is for a Ford conventional axle ( non limited slip ) with a 3.55 ratio
Open the drivers door and look for an information sticker , it should show the axle code ( 2 numbers or 1 letter and 1 number for the limited slip axle ) The code indicates whether you have a conventional axle or a limited slip axle and what the gear ratio is Submit another question with the axle code and I'll try to find it - Helpfull
For a 2001 F150, you can check the axle codes on your door sticker. The axle code to rear axle ratio values are as follows: 17 for 3.31 open differential, 19 for 3.55 open differential, H6 for 3.73 limited slip, H7 for 3.31 limited slip, and H9 for 3.55 limited slip.
On a 1986 Ford F-250 : I believe " 39 " is a conventional axle ( non limited slip ) with ( 3.55 gearing )
If the front axle is locking then yes. ie; limited slip
