You can get your answer here......this site has a Lexus manual with the wiring diagrams in it. You will have to be patient. This manual has 582 pages. You will have to search for it. www.scribd.com/doc/19395068/1997-Lexus-ES-300-FSM-Section-14a-Diagnostics
I'd be suspicious of the dimmer switch or a wiring connector between the dimmer switch and the headlights.
BATT/ALT light on; ammeter shows no output; dim lights - start the vehicle and disconnect the battery; if the engine dies, the alternator is bad.
1997 Toyota Camry does not have a cabin air filter. - It does not have an cabin filter, BUT the filter box is the same as the Lexus ES300 that HAS a cabin filter. BUT the 4th gen camry's had sealed the slot that had the cabin filter, Modifications is needed http://www.clublexus.com/forums/es300-and-es330/168680-es300-a-c-or-cabin-filter-change-97-01-a.html Same rules apply, except you need to cut where they sealed it up (will be covered by a cover*) *that you need to salvage off a 3rd gen camry or the ES300
behind the glove box
the fuse is under the hood and it is the fuse is under the label DOME and the amp is 7.5
The 1997 Lexus ES300 takes 22" drivers and 18" passenger side wiper blades. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only. Be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
I recently had to replace the trunk light in my '97 ES300. If you just need the bulb, it's NOT replacement #194 that Walmart, Advanced Auto and others list. You need a 12V, 3 Watt bulb that looks like a fuse. I finally had to buy mine from our local Lexus dealer. Pop open the light cover with a screwdriver and carefully pull out the bulb. Try this first because it's probably only the bulb that is bad.
Around 56K. You can download a 1997 flyer on the Lexus website.
