Ellison Onizuka was born in Hawaii as was I, to parents who came from Japan to work as laborers...as a young man he was always interested in the Heaven and the Stars, in fact he use to go to the Bishop Musuem and lookout the telescopes up to the stars....he kept it a secret of his interest in becoming an astronaut, but he knew their was no Asian astronauts, but he went to College and then joined the Air Force and got in the NASA program...and that is how his dream of becoming an astronaut started...but unfortunately it was a short lived dream as on Jan. 20, 1986 as the Challenger descended towards space within a couple of minutes fire started to come out, and as I watched on my TV, like so many other millions of Americans and the world, we all watched in Horror of what took place.....A very sad sad day for the family, loved ones and friends that also watched as 7 members of the Challenger was destroyed......I will never forget that day as long as I live......but at least I know where they all are....Eileen Bento
