To travel to Barcelona from Valencia (and the other way around), the only sure thing is I would not recommend flying, since it's maybe too short a distance, we're talking 400kms.
Other possibilities include:
* Car rental, hitchhiking (not very popular in Spain)
* Bus transportation, cheap and quite reliable. Check for instance www.alsa.es
* Train, a bit more expensive, if in a hurry, check Euromed (the commercial name of a fast train) at www.renfe.es
