What is the cost of repairing an electrical short in a car?
Unfortunately the question is "how long is a piece of string?"
It depends on how easy it will be to find the location of the short, and how accessible that location turns out to be. It might take 20 mins to trace it and 5 mins to fix, or it might take 3 hours to trace, and 4 hours to strip out the dash to get to it.
Depending on what you mean there are two answers. A car being jumped with cables on backward will short out the car either blowing the electrical system and or causing sparks. If you are installing a battery in your car and you put the cables on backwards then you will either drain the battery or short out the car.
Obviously there is an electrical problem.. In my '93 LeBaron, my son borrowed the car and left the emergency brake on, after starting the car. The internet is a good option for comparative shopping. So if the window is beyond the stage of repairing, replacement of the entire window will cost between $220-$400 depending on the type of car and how many extras you need with…
What causes the battery to drain on a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant after the car is shut off for greater than 5 hours?
A short somewhere along your electrical system. Or a faulty battery. Next time you come in from a drive, disconnect your battery from the car, leave it off for greater than 5 hours. Then re-connect your battery after 5hrs time and see if the car will start. If the car starts then your battery is OK and you will have to trace the short in your electrical system. If the car doesn't start then buy…
