What is the difference between Vietnam and the US?

Vietnam and the United States are two different countries located on two different continents with different primary languages from two completely distinct language families. The US is much larger, geographically and in terms of population, than Vietnam. They have different forms of government, and substantially different histories and cultures. The US was at war in Vietnam for over a decade, but the countries have made a rapprochement over their mutual fear and antagonism towards China.
