I'm a social worker and former guidance counselor. If you're in high school, stay with it if at all possible. If you can get back to high school, do so. If you are out of high school and not able to return, get the GED. Why wouldn't you? Do it now. You may have no interest in higher education at this point, but you never know. Line yourself up for future possibilities. Don't cause hassles and grief down the road when you become motivated to get special training.
A high school diploma is something that you earn by spending enough credit hours at a high school and a GED is a test that you take that is based on what you would learn in school and if you pass it then it is something like a diploma.

http://www.acenet.edu/resources/GED/center_locator.cfm The GED is actually the equivelant to a High School Diploma, the passing scores were created in a test provided to actual high school graduates. The GED scores range from 200(lowest) to 800(highest), 68 percent of the testers had a score between 400-600 . To pass the GED a minimum of 410 is required on any one test however an average of 450 is required to complete the test. So in all the GED and HSD are the same, the influence on the GED tests comes only from employers and colleges, they look down upon the GED because they feel it was just an attempt to pass and shows that you have no determination. The problem they dont see about their high brow based analysis is that some people may have been homeschooled and therefore have to take the GED just to get into college. If you want more information one this visit this webstie: http://www.acenet.edu/Content/NavigationMenu/ged/etp/what_are_GED_Tests.htm This will tell you about scoring, the history, and where you can find the testing centers near you. High School Diploma.
When Employers look at your diploma and they see that you completed school and gave fourth more effort.
When they see a GED they see that you gave up and were lazy about high school.
They're supposed to be equivalent, but a GED is basically a huge neon sign that reads "I couldn't handle high school." You'd better have a good story prepared to tell why you went that route.
(Note: there are, certainly, legitimate reasons for getting a GED instead of finishing high school... the point is, potential employers are probably going to want to hear them, while no one is ever going to ask "So, why did you finish high school like everyone else, huh?")
The first difference most people will notice is the difference in the age requirements. Another key difference between a GED and a high school diploma is the time it takes to complete. High school diploma is valued more higher than GED.
I feel that i doesn't matter as long as you have some type of education and getting a GED doesn't mean your a dropout or quit it could probably mean it was the best thing for you to do
for most jobs having a general studies diploma is perfectly fine but for college they typically prefer advanced diplomas
High school is where you go, and high school diplomas is what you get when you graduate.

Looks ok to me, the website actually advertises high school diploma programs. It does not offer a GED, because GED cannot be offered by a high school and obviously GED is not a high school diploma. What the website is trying to say is that with little effort and time you can get an accredited high school diploma instead of a GED which has comparatively less value than a high school diploma
