The last of the prophets to die was John the Baptist, and there have been no prophets since. There is now no need for human prophets because they were intermediaries between God and His people until the first Pentecost after Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins. This is when God's Holy Spirit first spoke directly to every Christian without the need of a human being to translate or interpret it. There is no such thing as a "contemporary prophet" and there are no modern-day prophets: there are people who call themselves prophets but they are deceiving themselves and others.
Rev 22:18-20 KJV For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (v.19) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (v.20) He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
2Ti 3:6 NET For some of these insinuate themselves into households and captivate weak women who are overwhelmed with sins and led along by various passions.
2Ti 3:13 NET But evil people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves.
2Ti 3:13 KJV But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
The completed Bible contains all the revealed truth God wants mankind to know and there is no need for prophets as it is a different Dispensation. Any self-styled prophet is a deceived charlatan and fraud and usually in it for the money:some are very wealthy indeed. They give Christianity a bad name and bring it into disrepute. Just follow the money trail.
Accordingly, there are no " differences and similarities between contemporary prophets and Old Testament prophets" because there are no modern prophets.
The old testament prophets fortold the birth of Jesus, where and when He would be born and His Salvific mission.
New Testament prophecy was fulfilled by the birth, life and death and resurrection of the true Messiah, Jesus.
The final prophecy of the New testament is the Apocalypse taking us to the present day.
a biblical prophet is a prophet from The Bible. a modern day prophet is from the modern day.
The old testament deals with the prophets warnings and telling of Jesus coming and the new testament after the arivel of Jesus . And his teachings.
I think they want to show the people that god is there
The major prophets are:Isaiah Jeremiah Lamentations Ezekiel DanielThe minor prophets are:Hosea Joel Amos Obadiah Jonah Micah Nahum Habakkuk Zephaniah haggai Zechariah MalachiThe minor prophets are called the minor prophets because the lives of the prophets were more obscure and their writings were shorter not because they were less important.
Prophets are people who speak the word of God. Messengers are prophets who also reveal a Scripture.
Samuel, Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah , Ezekiel , Amos, Haggai, Nahum, Hosea, Micah, Malachi, Ezra, Nehemiah, Obidiah, Jonah, Habakkuk , Zechariah and Zephaniah are the prophets books in the bible.
The old testament is about Jewish history and its prophets, telling about the wrath of god if they failed to listen to the prophets and gods word. And the coming of the Messiah. the new testament is after the birth of Jesus and his work. His life and teaching and his death and resurection . And it tells of Jesus coming a second time.

Two similarities--Both religions recognize many of the same prophets. Both were offshoots of the Hebrew religion. Two differences--The Muslims use the Koran as their holy book. The Christians use the Bible as their holy book. The Muslims believe that Mohammad is God's main human representative on earth. The Christians believe that Jesus is God's main human representative on earth.
we both believe in Jesus.Christians believe he is God's son, while Muslims believe he is one of the best prophets
Islam teaches us to believe in the oneness of Allah and not to associate any partner with Him. Islam also teaches to believe in all the prophets, angels and all the books given to these prophets.
