In the service manual it says the fuel/oil mixture should be 20:1 and it says to use premium gasoline. I mix the gas for my 1978 IT175 at 32:1, I use Bell Ray SI7 two stroke oil. This bike has been in the family since it was new and the engine is still in great shape, the bottom end has never been touched and Ive only done one top end on the bike. We use it in the desert on regular basis and it is still one of our most dependable bikes.
I have a 1983 IT175 Yamaha and the fuel mix is recommended by Yamaha at 28 to 32: 1 I use 30:1 ratio. Hope this helps
