The legal age for children in order for them to stay home alone is only regulated in Maryland and Illinois. There is no age requirement as to when a child in DC would be able to stay home unattended. Parents and caregivers should take into consideration the maturity level of the child before deciding if they should be left home alone.
There are no Federal Laws or local laws in Washington, D.C. that state how old one should be to legally babysit. It is a parent's personal decision on who and how old a babysitter should be.
