The most serious problem in the US is most likely the current state of the economy. In the past few years, our debt has gown through the rough. Even our employment rate as a nation is declining, which is a serious problem considering how well we were actually doing for getting back on track. As of June 2012, our GDP debt rate has risen from 99% to 103%, although currently doing better than most of our European counterparts, this is still unacceptable. The public debt of our nation is 103% as of 2011, which is worse than most of our European counterparts, which is even more unacceptable. Our GDP growth rate has also sunk from 3% (2010) to 1.5% (2011). Looking at the Stock Market, the Dow, S&P, and Nasdaq did hit their highest mark in 4 years, which is about when the major economic slump happened. However, recent trends show that the stocks are dropping again, going on an up and down roller-coaster mainly due to this European debt crisis. So what the Americans are looking for the most in this 2012 presidential election is the candidate who will best clean up the economy, get jobs going, and even things such as bringing jobs back home from overseas.
