Click the o d button on the end of the steering column shifter, and if that doesn't work, then its probably staying on because the o d is broken, and needs to be repaired before the light goes off
The O/D OFF light will show in your gauge cluster if the button on the end of your gear selector lever ( P R N D etc. ) has been pushed . Push the button again or shut off the Expedition and the next time it is started , the overdrive is normally allowed and the O/D OFF light does not show . If the O/D OFF light is flashing , that indicates that a malfunction has been detected
The O/D button will shut off ( or turn back on ) the overdrive feature of the transmission . The overdrive feature is the normally allowed position but if you push the O/D button it will shut off the overdrive and the O/D OFF light to the right of your tachometer will light up
Yes , it shows O/D OFF in your gauge cluster
When the O/D off light blinks that is indicating that a malfunction has been detected - get it checked out
If the light is on ( not flashing ) that means that the overdrive has been switched off ( the 4th gear of your automatic transmission )
Normally the overdrive is allowed so you will not see the light If you have shut off the overdrive the O/D OFF light will be lit up in your dash
If it has been switched off - the O / D - OFF light should light in the instrument cluster
A malfunction has been detected
On the shifter there should be a button that says something to the effect of "O/D off" push it.
If the O/D OFF light is flashing while you are driving you should take the vehicle in for servicing as soon as you can because you can cause damage to the transmission
Normally O/D means "over drive" so if the warnign is on saying "O/D off" it just means that you are not in overdrive, it is best to drive in over drive because it can conserve on gas. Just find the O/D button and press it back on.
