Its origin is in coastal Andhra pradesh of India. Throughout history, they have often been respected in villages and towns in that area, as they have been known as very intelligent, extremely sharp- featured and often of strong build. In history, they have gained popularity and power in local towns and villages as physically powerful, skilled, and intelligent soldiers and warriors - they played an active role in protecting towns in times of strife. As is similar of many other ancestors of Andhra Pradesh from the Kapu caste, the family name probably has deep origins in the early Aryan invaders who conquested from the north (probably modern day Punjab or Sindh regions) - taking an active role in establishing and leading kingdoms and defense systems.
