It's easy! On the left, simply open the tailgate half way and look through the hinge area. You'll see two screw with a star hex head. Borrow a special "screwdriver" from the auto parts store, remove the screws and pull. You'll have to use a little force because the lens is still held in by a couple of snap fittings, but it will pop out pretty easily. By the way, no need to remove the connector plug for the wiring. The bulbs are located on each of those grey plastic caps. (Oh yeah, put a rag on your bumper below the lens to help prevent scratching)
Remove the taillight assembly to gain access to the bulbs
For the front turn signal on a Chevy S-10 you remove the parking lamp lenses and replace the bulbs. If it is a rear turn signal bulb the taillight lenses will have to be removed to access the bulb.

Open the rear hatch. you will see 2 screws on the side of the taillight. Remove them and pull the taillight out.
Open the liftgate Remove the 2 screws at the top of the taillight assembly Carefully " work " the taillight straight back towards you . There are plastic pins shaped >>>>>>>>>>>> that hold the taillight assembly in place The bulb sockets are a simple turn to remove / install
From the inside.
on the 99-04 you have to lift the tailgate up, and around each taillight there are three bolts holding the taillights in,unscrew those and the taillight will pull right out.
* Remove the rear inside trunk finishing panel to access the taillight housing mounting nuts * Free the grommet for the taillight electrical harness and the three taillight housing nuts then pull off the taillight housing * Rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise and pull it out of the taillight housing * To remove the bulb from the socket pull it straight out.To install a new bulb in the socket push it straight into the socket until it stops

Remove bedliner( if applicable). You must remove the taillight framing to get to bulbs. There are two screws located behind the taillight, that must be unscrewed to loosen the taillight frame from the truck body. Remove the two screws via the truckbed side and framing will loosen and bulbs can be replaced.
Pop the cover off the inside of the pockets in the rear hatch. Remove the wing nut (don't drop it) .On the outside pull the taillight straight back.
