What is the process for checking the computer codes on an '88 Honda Accord?

When the check engine light is lit, set the parking break, leave the car running in Park, slid the driver's seat all the way forward. From the rear seat, look under the driver seat. The computer will be covered /w a plastic shell. There should be a small plastic door you can open with your fingernails. Inside this door will be a red light blinking the codes. Wait until it pauses, then count the number of flashes before the next pause, then repeat. If there is only one code, the same number will be given again.
