What is the proper socket size for removing the hub bearing assembly from the spindle of a 1995 Jeep Cherokee?

36 miilimiter for the spindle nut and 13 millimeter 12 point socket for the three bolts holding on the hub assembly to the steering knuckle.

How do you change a front wheel bearing hub assembly on a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville?

You'll need a 36mm socket to remove the bearing hub hub (from the end of the cv shaft). Loosen CV shaft 36mm torque nut prior to lifting vehicle. Loosen (don't remove) wheel lug nuts from wheel. Jack up front end of vehicle until both front wheels are off the concrete. Place jack stands underneath the vehicle. Remove the lugs and wheel from the hub. Remove the brake caliper and rotors (hang caliper with wire from strut/spring assembly to keep the brake line/hose from stretching). Remove the rotor from the hub. Now, with a separate jack, raise the control arm until the point that the cv shaft is level (not angled into the bearing hub). Remove the ABS sensor electrical plug. With 1/2" socket, remove the (3) bolts from the back side of the steering knuckle, which holds the bearing hub assembly in place. It will be tricky accessing these (3) bolts with a socket, extension, and ratchet, due to the very tight quarters, but you can do this, as I have. After removing these (3) bolts, finish removing the cv shaft hub nut, and the bearing hub assembly will remove from the cv shaft. Assembly is the reverse of the above procedure. Be sure to torque the (3) bearing hub bolts to the proper torque, as well as the bearing hub nut to cv shaft. Total time for a good mechanic: about 1 1/2 hours. A novice or beginner: about 2 1/2 hours.

How do you replace an U-Joint?

U-Joint OverhaulExcept Double Cardan Universal # Remove the driveshaft from the vehicle and place it in a vise, being careful not to damage it. # Remove the snaprings, which retain the bearings in the flange and in the driveshaft. # Remove the driveshaft tube from the vise and position the U-joint in the vise with a socket smaller than the bearing can on one side and a socket larger than the bearing cap on the other side. # Slowly tighten the jaws of the vise so that the smaller socket forces the U-joint spider and the opposite bearing into the large socket. # Remove the other side of the spider in the same manner (if applicable) and remove the spider assembly from the driveshaft. Discard the spider assemblies. # Clean all foreign matter from the yoke areas at the end of the driveshaft (s). # Start the new spider and one of the bearing cap assemblies into a yoke by positioning the yoke in a vise with the spider positioned in place with one of the bearing cap assemble positioned over one of the holes in the yoke. Slowly close the vise, pressing the bearing cap assembly in the yoke. Press the cap in far enough so that the retaining snapring can be installed. Used the smaller socket to recess the bearing cap. # Open the vise and position the opposite bearing cap assembly over the proper hole in the yoke with the socket that is smaller than the diameter of the bearing cap located on the cap. Slowly close the vise, pressing the bearing cap into the hole in the yoke with the socket. Make sure that the spider assembly is in line with the bearing cap in far enough so that the retaining snapring cap in far enough so that the retaining snapring can be installed. # Install all remaining U-joint in the same manner. Install the driveshaft and grease the new U-joints.

How do I Change Fog lamps on 2002 Oldsmobile intrigue?

The lamp is in a socket that plugs in behind the reflector/bezel assembly. A couple bolts hold each assembly in place. You may be able to reach the lamp socket and twist it out without removing the whole assembly from under the car. Be careful to not push too hard, the reflector housing is all plastic.

What size socket do you use to replace a wheel bearing on a 2006 cobalt?

you do not use a socket you use a wheel bearing puller to remove it from the hub Putting a right size socket into it and hitting it with a hammer can pop the bearing out, but it can also damage it so its advised to get the right tools. size 30 mm for the wheel nut and the bearing puller

The front bearings are sold as a hub/bearing assembly. procedure is pretty simple, remove wheel, brake caliper and rotor, axle nut, and 3 bolts attaching hub asm to spindle. no special tools, except large socket for axle nut, and possibly a torx socket for hub bolts.

How do you remove front brake rotors on a 1999 dodge ram 2500?

You have to remove the wheel hub assembly, drive the wheel studs out with a hammer, and flip the assembly over to remove the rotor from the back side. The wheel hub assembly removal requires removing the caliper, 1 11/16 inch nut on the axle shaft, loosening the 4 bolts (14mm 12 point socket) that hold the hub to the knuckle, and hammering on the bolts to loosen the hub. ( use a sacrificial socket to save the bolt heads).
