Many people refer to headlamps as headlights. The main purpose of head lamps is still allow the driver of a vehicle to see during night hours. The headlamps also allows the driver to see better in bad weather. In fact some states require by law that headlamps must be on whenever a vehicles windshield wipers are active. So in conclusion a vehicles headlamp is used primarily to allow the driver to see when it is dark .
