You local Volvo dealer look up the code. If it is the original radio you need to tell the dealer the cars VIN number. If it is a replacement, you need the serial number from the radio. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully. You only get 3 trys. Then you have to leave it powered up for hours before you can try again. Good Luck.
Vovlo's own specs give 1600kg as the max towing weight for a 940, slightly more than the 740s and 240s which were 1500kg.
Call the dealership with your vin number and they will give you the code. They may eve walk you through it too~!

If the radio is showing EEE.Try again. If the radio is showing "off".You will need to turn ignition to first position (make sure your lights are off) and wait for 2 hour for the security system to reset, then try again. Answer940s have fuses in the tray behind the ash tray. On a US 94 940 #26 is the Radio & Amp and #5 is the antenna Did the radio display read off or code? If so you simply need to enter the code. However some radios have a diode across the power input to prevent damage. That diode may have blown and need replacement. I know of no fuse links (wires that melt) on Volvo 940s.
