The rack costs less than $100. About one hour labor should be about $60. $160 total should be the cost. If you go to Firestone, Goodyear etc... it may cost $500 or more. Watch out for many repair shops and get the price before you have the job done. There are flat-rate manuals where the hours charged for a job are listed. Also you may want a wheel alignment which is about $40-60.
what does rack and pinion steering consist of and do on a 1995 Dodge Intrepid?
It might fit but it will take you a while.
installing a new rack and pinion 1997 nissan quest
Starting with the 1995 model year of the Ford Explorer : ( power RACK AND PINION steering )
Worn steering rack? Bad power steering pump? Low P.S. fluid? Worn steering components? Low tire pressure?
I had a 1990 nissan maxima that use to do that and the problem was my rack and pinion bushings were bad
no
To the power steering pump reservoir located on the drivers side of the engine near the front of the engine . It will have a cap that has a little plastic dipstick on the bottom of the cap
theres a (probably white) button under the steering wheel, push up on the button while turning the key
you can go to repair price estimator at repair pal. depends on your location also.
The clock spring would be inside the plastic steering column cover ( it allows you to turn the steering wheel without " breaking " the wiring connection to your horn and steering wheel mounted cruise control buttons )
The steering racks do not interchange, you can not take a 1989-1994 MK2/3 rack and pinion and install it into a 1995-up MK5(and probably MK4). The Pinion is too short, in the wrong place, and if you want it to fit, bust out the die grinder, the welder, and related modification tools.
