its about 3-4 hours depends how good you are with ya spanners
how old is the astra? but more importantly what engine and gearbox does it have? early engines with certain manual gearboxes you can change the clutch without removing the gearbox and subsequently saving about 4hours labour time. otherwise it is a gearbox outjob.
It is the number of rotations of the input shaft to the gearbox as compared to the number of rotations of the output shaft from the gearbox. The ratio will change each time a different gear is selected.
astra every time i even tried it just now astra every time i even tried it just now
Sounds like the thrust bearing is worn, gearbox out to change this, may as well change clutch at same time.
Because it revs low when it changes gear, an automatic gearbox should change when it is around midway through the revs, you should check this the next time you drive. Then take it too a garage and ask if they could reconfigure the gearbox.
Any lubricant will break down over time, and with use. Practical experience suggests changing all fluids and oils on a car every 50,000 or so miles. ATF in a gearbox is usually bright red. if it is brown, black, or smells burnt, change it anyway. hope this helps

every 75,000 miles also you must change the water pump at the same time. if you do not ! very costly repair to replace valve head.
simple fix tools time and patience. Book on repair will guide you in all.
what would the problem be with my Vauxhall astra if I was driving it and the car cut out but would start back up in 5 mins time
They can be a great idea. Credit repair is something you can do for yourself for free, however it can be time consuming. If you feel you do not have the time or patience to do it yourself, or that your time is better spent doing other things, then hiring a credit repair agency to do the work for you makes sense. After all, we can change the oil in our vehicles, but how many of us out of conveniece take the vehicle into a mechanic to do it for us? Credit repair agencies are great for convenience.
fairly simple but awkward to do, means undoing the hubs and pulling out the driveshafts (after removing gearbox oil!! school boy error and you only do that the once after putting 4ltrs of oil onto garage floor!!) you have to undo the bottom engine mount as this is attached to the gearbox. Loosen, which can be really awkward and annoying, the gearbox bolts, of which i think there are four incluing one which goes through to the starter motor. Support the gearbox and slowly undo the bolts until they are out leaving the top one til last just to make it wasier to get to all the rest of the bolts once loose. remove gearbox and replace. if taking the gearbox off you might need to think about what life is left on your clutch as well as you'd rather change it now than have to repeat this job again in two months time if its near the end of its life. also make sure when tightening the gearbox bolts again that they are done to the right torgue as if not, you'l find out, surprisingly soon as i'd done 80miles of a rally and they loosened enough to let a drive shaft move over enough to let the gearbox oil come out past shaft.
