Life magazine had a cover of a student bending over a body of another student. She was crying and her hands were in the air. To this day that picture stays with me and it probably does with others who were there or alive at that time. The very event of reserves shooting students on a college campus seemed impossible until that day. The students killed were expressing their free speech rights against the war in Vietnam and to get shot by the military was completely against the values of the constitution and the country . The country was upset, sad, stunned, and determined that something like that shouldn't happen again.
