"Organized Labor" is defined as a unit or association of workers in any particular industry for the purpose of representing these workers on the issues of improvement of the workers' lives, working conditions and economical status. There are two types of unions: horizontal and vertical. In the horizontal union the members are united by a common skill. In the vertical union, members are united by the same industry. Organized labor has a major impact on campaigns because the politicians cater to people, they are supposed to serve everyone they represent. Therefore, in order to win elections, they need to consider everyone's needs and opinions. The issues that organized labor brings up, such as better health insurance, is often on politicians' lists of issues during elections,Unions are influential organizations, often capable of interrupting the regular course of business by calling for strikes, etc. All this has to be taken into consideration by politicians.
