It doesn't work!
Test for fuel pump pressure at the back for the throttle body at the schrader valve. Your fuel pump may be going out. This is the #1 problem with these cars.
A noisy fuel pump can not be fixed. The pump can only be replaced when there is a problem with it.
Check the fuel filter fuse to see if it has blown. Also replace the fuel pump relay just to make sure is not defective. If that does not solve the problem then there is a problem with the wiring to the pump. It is also possible the new fuel pump is defective.
Problem other then Fuel Pump
check the fuel filter first replace then still a problem , listen for a humming or whine on fuel tank if none change the pump
Swap the fuel pump relay with another like relay in the fuse/relay center. If the problem with the fuel pump goes away, the relay was bad. If not, knowing GM fuel pumps, the fuel pump is the problem.
It is obvious the fuel pump is not your problem. Did you replace the fuel filter? Is the fuse blown? Is the relay good? Is the fuel pressure regulator ok?
FUEL PUMP IS YOUR PROBLEM {why do you think its the fuel pump?}
Sounds like a fuel feeding problem - maybe the idle is too low - the fuel pump is failing - of the fuel filter is clogged.
If you hear the fuel pump run that is a good sign it is working however, a fuel pump pressure test would tell you if the pump is meeting the required pressure.
Yes, and the pump itself can do the very same thing. First thing to do is replace the fuel filter. If the problem persists then replace the fuel pump relay. If the problem is still there the pump is more than likely defective.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO START LOOKING FOR AN INTAKE GASKET LEAK, NOT A FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM Remove Your Air Filter, If You See A Liquid Squirt or bubble up, Or smell gas, then its the plugs What is the problem? Why are you limiting the problem to those 2 areas of concern? If it is the electronic fuel pump that is the problem you will not hear the fuel pump humm as you turn the key in the ignition. Replace the fuel pump which is located inside the gas tank. after you have replace the pump and it doesn't humm what else could be the problem the fuel pump could still humm but it could be weak. there is a pressure valve on the fuel line behind the intake. put a pressure tester on it. if it is over 45 lbs. then your fuel pump is ok.
