Blue smoke indicates that it's running too rich. You have to adjust the amount of fuel being injected into the engine.

If is turbo diesel turbo is leaking oil into combustion chambers.

Blue smoke from either diesel or petrol engine indicates burning oil. Normally caused by failure of oil rings on piston. However, could be caused by other reasons such as valve stem seals worn.

I'm not much of an Diesel Mechanic but with the little information provided, I believe you are experiencing oil mixing in with your gas when it combust. this is caused by 1 of two things, if it is an older truck, your piston rings might be going out and letting oil seep into you combustion chamber and burning when the gas burns (cost more money to fix), or it could be that your "drain" back holes in the engine is clogged and oil is seeping into the valves thus in turns seep into the combustion chamber and you just need to clean it. you can do this by removing the valve cover and cleaning those holes.

worn piston rings or valve stems

What does blue smoke on a diesel mean?

"BLUE" smakoe on a diesel can be a little confusing, made worse by what era the engine comes from and if the emisions control stuff in the exshaust has been removed. Old school heavy duty deisel engines for large trucks and rail locomotives, 1902 untill 1980's will put out green blue acrid smelling greasy smoke when cold or allowed to idle to long. Normal. All diesels but out a pull of black or white smoke at start up. Newer Diesel engines will only smoke blue if they have a bad injector or are worn out. For the blue to get through the polution control stuff since about 2008 means there is something really wrong.

Your 306 hdi is giving off black smoke on boost but driving fine?

this will happen on all diesel engines (if its going to make reasonable power) its basically soot/carbon from the exhaust and unburnt diesel. on some high power turbo diesel cars there is proper plumes of black smoke. you only need be worried if there is blue smoke while on boost as this means the turbo is shot. but black = good

Diesel engine blue smoke?

blue smoke is pretty bad.. your adding ethanol to your diesel fuel when your at the pumps Blue smoke could be a sign of engine wear. The blue is the engine oil being burnt in the engine. 2 possible wear parts are the intake valve guides and the piston oil rings.

Blue smoke from exhaust Renault espace?

My understanding of exhaust smoke is that Blue is oil, Black is unburnt fuel, White is unburnt diesel on cold start. The main question would be, how much smoke and when does it do it?

What causes Blue smoke from diesel engine?

Blue smoke in both petrol and diesel engines is caused by the burning of engine oil during the combustion phase, i.e there is oil in the combustion chamber. The oil could be entering the combustion chamber via the valve stem seals or the oil rings. Also check that the oil level is correct as too much oil can cause blue smoke Also check that there are no oil leaks that are allowing oil to enter the exhaust system. If all that is in working order, I suggest you pull out the engine and get it overhauled.Read more: What_causes_black_smoke_or_blue_smoke_in_gas_engines
