For a Dodge ram 150 the towing capicity is 1/2 ton for 250 3/4 ton 350 it is 1 ton. I think the 1/4 ton is the ram 50 Nope. The numeric model designations do NOT directly correlate to towing capacity, instead, the numeric model designations directly pertain to load capacity - which is the weight that a particular model can hold inside its own pick-up bed (box). Therefore, a D150 is the half-ton designation and the D250 and D350 are the 3/4 and 1 ton designations, respectively. As a practical matter, most pickups have official load capacities greater than the industry standard model categories of 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and 1 ton meaning that each of the prior identified D150, D250 & D350 models will probably be rated at more than the 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and 1 ton, respectively. Towing capacity is the ability to pull another object. The only relation a model number has to towing capacity is that the larger the load capacity, usually the greater the towing capacity. A D350 will commonly have a towing capacity of 3 or 4 tons (6,000 - 8,000 lbs.). The actual towing capacitydepends on many factors like engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc., and can vary widely with-in each model category. For instance, a D150 may be a 6 or 8 cylinder truck and each will have a different max. towing capacity due to different engine and transmission capabilities. In the case of Dodge, a four-wheel-drive pick-up carries a "W" in place of the "D" resulting in W150, W250 & W350 models. The original Owner's Manual is the best source for towing specs., but sometime you can get the info from another year of vehicle if the models have not change significantly. Self serve rental places sometimes have this towing info available over the phone.
