Look on the dip stick, it should read use only mercron. I know it call for type F, but make sure it has mercron on the lablel. I made the mistake of having my transmission flushed and the service man put the wrong kind in. When I went to pull a small lawn mower trailer the fluid sprayed out on the rear of the Bronco. Hope this helps, Wayne

The Ford Bronco transmission can use any SAE certified transmission fluid. Ford transmissions manufactured before 1979 will need an F type transmission fluid.

I'd suggest using a Dextron III/Mercon automatic transmission fluid.
dipstick tube
It doesn't have a dipstick for the manual transmission , the transmission fluid level is checked at the FILL PLUG on the side of the transmission
Through the automatic transmission fluid level dipstick , near the firewall
Ford manual transmissions do not have dipsticks like most Ford automatics do The manual transmission fluid level is checked at the fill plug on the transmission
