To correct the problem:
1) Are the battery cables loose on the battery's connection posts? You should not be able to turn them by hand. Check and tighten if necessary.
2) Does the car make a loud "click" sound when you try to start it? If so, you may have a starter motor problem.
3) If your car is old it may be the ignition system itself which has a fault.
Check the first 2 and correct and/or replace if need be. If that doesn't work, it might be more than a DIY repair-at-home problem.
What brand & year of a vehicle do you have? It could help you to get a better answer here if you stated the year-make-model of the problem vehicle.
If you charge the battery and it is not working then there is something wrong with the battery. Batteries are not usually repairable.
There is something wrong with the charging system. Check the alternator and the battery to see if both are still good. Good Luck!
On mine it had a bad carbarator and water in its spark plug.
Check the wire from the battery to the body and from the battery/body to the engine block.
Start with the gas tank. No fuel, no start. Then check the battery. If the battery is low or dead, it will not start. If you jump it and it starts, but will not continue running, it is the alternator. If you have gas, a good battery, a working alternator, but it still will not start, and perhaps the tharter makes a weird noise or no noise at all, it's the starter. From there, it depends on the make and model of the vehicle. Could be a number of manufacturer specific problems.Ussually when its the starter a good wack to the starter will make it turn on from pesonal experience of course :)
ALTINATOR OR STARTER. JUMP START CAR, TAKE POSITIVE CABLE OFF BATTERY,IF CAR DIES IT IS ALTERNATOR. GOOD LUCK
Start the truck then disconnect the battery if it's still running the alternator is good
Hard to say as it depends on the battery and how good it is. A good battery can sit for 6 months and easily still start a car and 1 year is not out of the question.
battery need to be at lease 14 volts to be able to start
Sounds like a dead battery. You need the battery to start the car, but once it is running the engine runs completely off of the alternator (which also recharges the battery if the battery is still good).
Does it turn over? Does it have spark? Does it have fuel? Does it turn over? Does it have spark? Does it have fuel?
Using the wrong weight engine oil for that climate, The battery/electrical system is not in good condition,
