I've had this problem, too. As far as the ABS, diagnostics revealed the pump modulator was burned out, which as far as I know is a $960 part available only through Chrysler! But the brakes work well, so I go without the ABS. The other check engine light is most likely an O2 sensor. If you're not mechanically inclined -- I'm not -- you can have someone plug into the diagnostic console to download the codes on these. I've had both the dealer and a local guy do this and got the same answer from both. My '97 Laredo has 227,000 miles on it and is running fine. I've only had two tune-ups; one at 100,000 and one at 200,000 miles. If you've already had someone check this route, perhaps "the computer" needs to be reset, if you will. I'd at least try a dealer and see what they say. They deal with this stuff 24/7. And no, I don't work for a Jeep dealer...
