My answers:::Women and girls spent hour preparing food.They churned cream to turn it into butter. They dried fruits and vegetable and stored them in jars. This extra food helped feed families during winter. Women also made the colonists' clothing. They used animal fat to make soap and candles. They used pig hair to make brushes.

Colonial widows were allowed to keep doing their husbands jobs. There were several women before, during, and after the Revulotionary War that continued the press shops (newspaper etc.), general store, farmer, tavern keeper. etc.
Other 'jobs' these women would have or could have held were midwifery (delivery of children & curing 'smaller' sickness), School dame (might or might not teach reading, writing, arithmetic but maybe stitchery, singing, spinning etc.) other 'menial' positions would be the maid, cook, seamstress etc.

Well, women did not have jobs in colonial times. But, they did do things at home such as cooking, sewing, feeding the chickens, watching the children, and cleaning. Sometimes, if they lived in the South or was a slave, they would farm.
