The closest aircraft to nearly become extinct in the Viet War was the F-105 Thunderchief, the largest single engine jet fighter bomber in the free world at the time. In fact the "Thud" has the distinction of being America's first & only warplane in history to have been pulled off the front lines due to excessive combat losses. Nearly 400 were destroyed out of 833 built.
The famous A-1 Skyraider, the last purpose built single engine PROPELLER driven warplane (divebomber in this case) to fight in a major US war was also nearly extinct. Fortunately some South Viet Airmen flew some of their Skyraiders into Thailand when the south fell in '75. Those A1s were sold to American civilian warplane collectors in the 80s, 90s, and first decade of the this 21st century. So if you happen to to see some A1s flying at an "air show" somewhere in America its probably one of those "escapees" from 1975.
The same holds true for the former US Army (switched to USAF in '64) 0-1 Bird Dog reconnaissance/artillery adjusting airplane. This Cessna all metal bird fought its second & last war in Vietnam with well over a 500 airplane loss rate. Very few of them made it out. But one is in a museum (Pensacola?) since it landed on an aircraft carrier during its escape from RVN in 1975.
By aircraft and watercraft
There houses are usually made of straw.
From WWII to Vietnam, they were very dangerous. In Vietnam, the USS Enterprise, USS Oriskany, and USS Forrestall, all were involved with explosions and fires destroying men and jet aircraft. Lessons LEARNED from those incidents have made aircraft carriers safer for 21st century US sailors.
Approximately 2,000 fixed wing aircraft were lost; approximately 5,000 rotary-wing aircraft were lost.
The 337 first flew in 1961 and was much used in the Vietnam war as a forward observer and artillery control aircraft.
Depends on what kind of aircraft
It is a very light aircraft with no engine.
Generally speaking, refugees fled Vietnam by boat. However, a number of them left by land borders or using aircraft.

The USS Oriskany was an aircraft carrier. It was in both the Korean and Vietnam War. It was designed to hold between 90 and 100 airplanes. It would hold up to 2,600 crew members.
The currency of Vietnam is the dong (VND).They use the 'Vietnam Dong'
The countries that were actually "physically" involved, and were bombed or had US aircraft crash into them, whether they were "officially" in the war or not, were: Lao's, Cambodia, North Vietnam and South Vietnam.
