Depends on how massive the sensor really is! LOL, It is called a mass air flow sensor for starters and it is on the left side of the engine cover. 2 torx screws and a pull and it's out ,costs Canadian about $80.00 taxes in ! easy peasy!! good luck !
The mass air flow sensor is located in the throttle body housing on the 3800 engine. There should be 4 screws that hold it down to the housing. Once they screws are removed, the sensor lifts off of the throttle body.

Had a recent situation with similar symptoms. Turned out to be a faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor. P/N of replacement was 19179715. Hope this helps.

To change battery on a 1998 Buick Regal, first remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir. Then remove the massive air flow housing to be able to remove the old battery and replace with a new one.
It does not have a mass air flow sensor.

Try checking your mass air flow sensor
After consulting several sources, someone finally called a local Buick dealer who informed me that a 1990 LeSabre does NOT have a map sensor, it was the Mass Air Flow sensor that needs replacing.
The 1997 Buick LeSabre mass airflow sensor is located on the outside of the air intake housing. The sensor can be found on the right hand side of the air intake housing.
