A balloon is stretchy. Therefore, when air is not being forced in, the ballon will try to contract to more or less of it's original size. When this happens, the air is forced out of a balloon until the molecular structure of the balloon is simillar to how it started out.
The warmer air is, the faster molecules in the air vibrate, so it makes the balloon bigger. But if you were to take that balloon and freeze it, it would shrink to a third of the size.

If there is warm air in the balloon, cooler air makes the balloon rise and if there is cold air in the balloon warmer air makes the balloon fall.
thrust and drag, because with out thrust the hot air balloon would not be able to move forward and with out drag it would not be able to stop
There is hot air to make it fly and there are weights to stear it.

The open end of the balloon must face backwards because when air is released from the balloon, it creates propulsion in the opposite direction, which propels the car forward. If the open end of the balloon faced forward, the expelled air would create propulsion in the wrong direction, causing the car to move backward.

When the gas (air) in a hot air balloon is heated it becomes less dense. This makes the balloon more buoyant so it rises.Because heating the air inside the balloon makes it less dense than the air surrounding the outside of the balloon, so it will rise.

Because the fire or heating device heats the air in the top section ( the actual balloon ) and hot air rises... so the hot air trapped in the balloon makes the balloon rise :)
Hot air makes the balloon go higher. That's why it's called a hot air balloon
