Usually oil accumulations on the exterior of an engine are the result of oil being spilled on the engine, or a leak in one or more of the engine gaskets.
Assuming that by "spark plug well" you are referring to the recessed area around the exterior portion of a plug [s] thus above the spark plug in the engine head, and that the spark plug [s] is/are tight [torqued properly].
IF that's the case, I suspect one of two probable causes:

Bad spark plugs, coils are coil, bad injector. Cam are crankshaft sensor
If the car will not start...the spark-plug is bad.
ALL gasoline engines have spark plugs. Only diesels don't have spark plugs.

The 2005 Chevy Trailblazer has Coil-On-Plug ignition coils so there are 6 "coil packs". Each one is mounted on top of the spark plug.
That's the forward-most spark plug on the passenger side.
